This is Balaji's index page on the FMS Runtime Environment (FRE). The
main GFDL page on FRE is here.
The links at left contain various design notes and explanations on
FRE. The links at right are from my "FRE blog": there you can follow
the various design and implementation issues as they arise. The top
set ("FRE News") lists new developments that have been added to the
released version of FRE.
A complete redesign of FRE is underway. The goal is to arrive at a
curator: a schema that encapsulates a complete model configuration and
interfaces it to a metadata database on a data portal. Queries on the
DB will be capable of returning either a complete model configuration
in the form of a FRE schema file; or point to an archived dataset or
aggregation.
